~ Cottiers / Dowanhill Church ~

In 2006, Rab MacInnes and myself removed and restored all of the windows in this Grade “A” Listed building, with the help of Maurice Jackson, Eilidh MacKenzie and Joy Bunclark.

The building was designed by William Lieper and was Daniel Cottier’s first complete interior design commission. Both of their signatures can be found on the “David” & “Miriam” windows.

All of the windows required to be partially re-leaded. Some also required full conservation specialist treatments, such as resin bonding, plating, back-plating / painting, and careful removal of selected pieces without damaging the whole.

It was a massive task, taking nine months.

Every panel was reinstalled using bespoke lime-mortar, specifically made for the job by Jimmy Innes (Doune).
