Since 2008, I have been regularly called out to repair breaks in the plain lead glazing at Doune Castle.
The breaks are caused by stones and birds, and although not serious, could cause the public to hurt themselves on the broken glass, so they have to be repaired quickly.
Recently, I restored several windows which had to be removed to facilitate stone repairs to the castle.
This is one of my favourite buildings in Scotland. I love working here. And I love the windows, which although simple, are extremely functional and beautifully considered.
The castle is regularly used as a film set: for Outlander, and Monty Python to name but two.
