In 2008, Rab MacInnes and myself restored the worst of the deformed leading in this very unusual octagonal church in the Scottish Highlands.
The beautiful white church is situated high up on a hill, in the middle of a very wet and windy glen in Dalmally. The effects of 100 years of strong gales could clearly be seen in the condition of the lead and solder in many of the panels. They needed to be removed and re-leaded as they had prematurely reached the end of their life.
It was possibly one of the wettest and coldest removals that we had done.
Special thanks to Maurice Jackson who got soaked with us.
