~ American Opalescent Lamp ~

Every so often I get asked to repair 3d objects made of glass: sometimes vases, lamps, bowls, works of art.

This beautiful late 19th / early 20th Century lamp had one of six pieces of opalescent glass completely smashed after it fell onto a floor. The glass was slumped, and uniquely coloured, and almost impossible to replace with like-for-like glass.

After discussions with the client, we agreed that full museum-quality conservation could be done, do glue all of the broken pieces back together.

The metal filigree, which was broken in the fall, I soldered back together and patinated to match the original metal.
