In late autumn, 2014, I traveled to the wonderful Inner Hebridean island of Islay (home to my favourite whiskys). There I picked up an exquisite cabinet door which had been badly damaged when being moved to the Island. The Georgian glass was paper thin, and the tiny leads were extremely fiddly and easily spoiled. The panel was not stripped, but rather carefully dismantled internally, around the damaged section only. All the lead and glass were kept, cleaned, re-shaped, and re-assembled. It was such a pleasure to travel to and from Islay for this relatively small commission. The journey is half the fun.
