~ Sothebys, Paris ~

In 2012 I was asked by a UK museum to travel to Paris, to closely examine and authenticate two 13th century stained glass panels which were for auction in Sothebys, Paris.

I had very short notice to do this, but managed to gather together as much background material, and photographs of similar panels that were already known about.

I spent most of the day in the Auction House main display area, with other potential clients coming and going throughout the day. I was allowed to examine in detail, and come to conclusions, which were later corroborated by other stained glass experts, who had also examined the panels on separate days.

Eventually, the panels did not leave France, but I was pleased that my own findings agreed with the other experts.
