The Hermit and the King
A small memorial panel in memory of a wonderful friend and kindred spirit
As a trained Fine Artist, and a graduate of Glasgow School of Art, I take my inspiration from all around me.
The windows I work on for conservation directly influence my new work, both in technique and style. I learn something new from every window that I have worked on for the last 40 years, whether in terms of brush stroke / mark-making, colour selection, use of materials or composition.
I work, bespoke, for each client, solving their specific problems, listening to their ideas, and designing very site-specific, client-driven new windows.
I like to work with beautiful hand-made glass, from England, France and Germany. Colours which can be removed, added to, and manipulated through the lead, by etching, sandblasting, painting, enamelling and silver-staining.
